Com cada episódio preenchendo duas horas inteiras de intenso pôquer e comentários excelentes, o WPT se tornou o favorito dos jogadores e dos espectadores de todo o mundo. O primeiro programa americano de pôquer na TV fez história quando mostrou as mãos dos jogadores com as “WPT cams”— pequenas câmeras colocadas nas mesas. Cada episódio refere-se a uma final do torneio.
Criado por Lyle Berman e Steve Lipscomb, a tentativa deles é “estabelecer o pôquer como um esporte importante para ser televisionado, transmitindo os melhores torneios de pôquer no mundo.
